Youth "Learn-to" Programs

We offer several one time "learn-to" programs to help kids explore our parks and learn outdoor recreation activities. No prior experience is necessary to sign up.  These activities are offered throughout the year – visit our event calendar to see when they are offered and to sign up. 

Chaperones: Chaperones are REQUIRED to attend all activities except the bike adventure (one chaperone per a group of five children is allowed). Chaperones do not need to register or pay.

Advance registration is required for youth participants.

Learn-to Fish

Is your child interested in learning how to fish? This is the program for them! Learn how to cast and catch fish at the all-accessible Jenni & Kyle Preserve. Staff will assist participants with removing fish and releasing them back into the water. This is the perfect program for youth that have no to minimal experience with fishing. Fishing equipment and instruction is provided.

Age: Kindergarten - 8th Grade. This activity is also open to persons with permanent disabilities.

Learn-to Bike

Is your child looking to learn how to ride a bike this summer? Join our staff to learn how to ride a bike! Youth ages 5 – 9 will enjoy learning bike safety, practice balancing, learning how to turn and other basics with and without pedals. Youth will also gain one on one support throughout their biking attempts. With enough practice they will be riding around in no time! Use our bikes and helmets or bring your own. A limited number of bikes and helmets are available.

Age: Kindergarten - 8th Grade.
