1. Do you allow tents or bounce houses?

We allow tents and/ or bounce houses with prior approval. You are responsible for calling diggers hotline. A $30 fee is required for each structure. 

2. Do I need a photography permit?

A photography permit is included with the cost of the facility for the duration of your event. You do not need a separate photography permit, unless you will be taking photos at a separate time from your event.

3. Can we drop off decorations/ supplies beforehand?

Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate storing personal items. As we host a variety of events and guests, you are responsible for putting up decorations and taking them down in the time allotted on your contract. 

4. Can we use the firepit outside the Center?

It’s very popular! Bring your own local firewood, or purchase on-site for $5.00 per bundle through Dane County Parks. 

5. How many people can the Heritage Room (Main Level) accommodate for a wedding?

The Heritage Room can comfortably accommodate up to 160 guests, while still leaving the dance floor clear.

6. Can we have sparklers or fireworks at our event?

Per our local fire code, fireworks and sparklers are not allowed inside or outside.

7. When can we set up our wedding decor? What time is tear down?

You may begin setting up for your event at the arrival time listed on your contract. Curfew is 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights, and 10pm all other nights (Sunday - Thursday).

9. What is included in the rental?

In addition to the space itself:

  • Heritage Room rental includes all tables, chairs, reception area with a stone fireplace and a walk-out deck overlooking prairies and with a view of the Madison skyline;
  • LePine Room rental includes all tables, chairs and a walk-out patio with picnic tables and nearby trails through the prairies.

10. Can I bring in food and beverage for my wedding?

We share a preferred caterer list with our clients; however, you may use any caterer of your choice after they are approved by the center manager. We do not allow nesco/crockpot potlucks.


Alcohol policy: You are required to file a permit with The Lussier Family Heritage Center and pay a fee if you choose to serve alcohol to your guests. Wedding parties may not charge their guests for alcoholic beverages.

11. Do you have vendors that we are required to use?

We do not require you to use specific vendors. With that being said, we are happy to provide you with a list of vendors we work very closely with that provide us with exceptional service each and every time.

12. Wedding Planners…do I need one?

We welcome the opportunity to work with all vendors, including wedding planners. If you choose not to use a wedding planner, our expert wedding team has years of experience planning weddings and events of all sizes, and will be able to guide you through the planning process.

13. Can I host my ceremony at The Lussier Family Heritage Center?

We would love for you to host your ceremony with us! We have some beautiful areas, both inside and outside to recommend for your party. 

14. Is there parking available for my wedding/event?

We have on-site parking for 100 vehicles, seven of which are designated for ADA patrons. Please view our Overview Map for more details. Vehicles staying in the parking lot overnight will need a parking permit from the manager.

15. Do you have a list of nearby lodging and other accommodations?

Yes. We will provide you with a list of nearby hotels. Camping is also available at Lake Farm Park seasonally.

3. How far in advance should I book?

Our spaces fill quickly. Please contact us to reserve your space as soon as possible, up to a year in advance of your scheduled event.  Please view our online Availability Calendar.

4. What is the charge for a private room rental?

Our event venues vary in rental price depending on the date and time.  Please visit our Pricing webpage or call (608) 224-3604 for rates.

5. How do I reserve a space for a private event?

6. Can I bring my own food and beverage to the private room?

We will provide you with a list of area caterers and restaurants that deliver to our center.  However, you may use any caterer of your choice after they are approved by the center manager. We do not allow nesco/crockpot potlucks.

8. Do you provide an audiovisual (AV) system?

The Heritage Room (Main Level) has state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and skilled in-house technicians to ensure your meetings and presentations are executed flawlessly. The LePine Room (Lower Level) provides an AV cart and screen for your AV equipment.

9. Where can I find information on things to do in Madison?

The Madison area is full of arts and entertainment, delicious dining options and many other exciting things to keep your group busy. The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau provides additional ideas on activities around the city.

10. How many people can the Heritage Room (Main Level) accommodate for a meeting?

The Heritage Room can very comfortably accommodate approximately up to 98 attendees, depending on which room configuration you would like.

We have a coffee service that we can provide for your guests as well as vending with soft drinks and water at the center.

Dogs are allowed on an 8' static leash outside on the trails. Only service dogs are allowed inside the Lussier Family Heritage Center building.

3. Do we need to rent the facility to visit?

You are welcome to come visit the park & trails at any time. Currently, our building does not have public hours, but we welcome you to stop by and ask us questions if we are open.

4. Do I need a photography permit?

You do not need a photography permit if you are taking photos of wildlife or during your nature hike. You do need a photography permit if you are taking family photos, or other posed photos.

5. What activities do you have available?

The Lussier Family Heritage Center is surrounded by miles of hiking and biking trails. For information on what you can do in the park visit the Capital Springs Recreation Area webpage.

6. Do you sell park permits?

Dane County park permits are available at the LFHC, we do not sell state park permits. If you stop by and we are not here, they are also available at the Lake Farm Campground office, at many kiosks around the park, or online

7. Can I volunteer?

8. Do you groom cross country ski trails?

Dane County Parks grooms the cross country ski trails located around the Lussier Family Heritage Center. For current conditions check out the trail webpage

9. Can I bring my scout group out?

Absolutely! We would be happy to work out a program or volunteer activity for your scout group that meets the badge or goal requirements of your troop. Contact us for more information.  

10. Can I get my Nature Net Passport Stamped Here?
